Capoeira or the Dance of War by Johann Moritz Rugendas, 1825, published in 1835

WHAT IS CAPOEIRA?

CAPOEIRA is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, music, and dance. It was created in Brazil by slaves brought from Africa, especially from present-day Angola, sometime after the sixteenth century.

The slaves in Brazil during their battle for freedom created Capoeira. Since then capoeira has developed and today there are two forms of capoeira; one is called Capoeira Angola and the other called Capoeira Regional
Nowadays capoeira is a fight, a dance where it mixes with music and becomes art, it is a philosophy of life for its practitioners. For me is where I forget the bitter things of life, is where I retreat my greatest happiness, it is where I always feel inner peace and greater joy in my life.

On a more personal level, Capoeira connects my body and soul where I give myself the joy of every day, making capoeira an instrument of peace and friendship, always looking to make as my tool to meet new friends.

I believe that the capoeirista (the person who practice capoeira), when he/she discovers their potential as an artist, slowly they will also find their inner change and so gradually he/she originality, and like that a deeper way to be unique.

The art of capoeira will bring to you health, happiness and fitness, in personal level capoeira will build your confidence within each lesson, will give the right balance between mind and body, you will learn and increase your musicality and rhythm. Fatigue comes mainly through regular training, but there is an immediate boost to your daily energy levels, your stamina will improve very quickly and stress levels will reduce rapidly.

In a more physical way, you will do a full body work out, including muscles that you never used before, you will increase agility and intense cardio work out. Capoeira also works as part of social integration between people of different backgrounds, giving you the chance to meet so many different people and become a part of a big community that grows day by day.
